My one and only blog post of 2022

As the years go by, they seem to come and go faster and faster. These last few days of the year 2022, I am taking a few moments and reflecting on just how crazy, but wonderful this year was. I was lucky enough to be a part of 39 weddings (the most I have ever had), 30 engagements, and endless family sessions. WOW! I can’t believe that I made it. Like all years, it’s had its challenges. But all in all, it’s been a perfect year.

There is no question that my photography career can bring some challenges. I often question myself and wonder if I am doing everything there is necessary to ensure I document all of these wonderful moments perfectly. There are so many things that go into a “perfect” shoot: calming my subjects, posing them, watching out for stragglers in the background, making sure the lighting is right, staying on time, taking in suggestions, and most important to me is that my people are enjoying the moment that they have waited so long for. These moments fly by and nothing makes me more happy than knowing I am freezing it for a lifetime to come.

My goal for this coming year is to stop comparing myself to other photographers. It is SOOO hard to do nowadays. It’s crazy just how much social media has changed since I started almost 12 years ago. I might not be as involved in reels, might not be as fast with my editing than others, not as worried about how many followers I have, and the list can go on. I do know that I personally care and give it my all when it comes to the people that trust me in documenting their life. I love each and every one of you guys!! There are not enough “thank-yous” I can give to you!!! Looking forward to quietly stalking you on instagram to see where your lives take you!! Cheers to the crazy year of 2022!!! I hope you all have a safe and memorable New Year!

Eric and Melissa- Lake Geneva, WI New Years Wedding

There is something that I just L O V E about New Years Eve weddings. It’s the end of one chapter and the start to the next, topped off with dressing up to drink champagne with family and friends. Yes it can be bitter cold, but man oh man, it sure can be gorgeous with the snow-covered surroundings. I have know Eric, the groom, and his family for years. I spent many weekends watching him (and my brother) play baseball as kids. Eric and his family are some of the most kind, funny, and loving people I know. When Eric introduced me to his (now wife) Melissa, I knew we were going to have the best time getting to know each other again. It is obvious that this past year presented a lot of challenges to my couples. Should they push forward with their wedding plans or postpone them until things changed? This couple decided to move forward with their date and I am so happy they did. It was a wonderful event that brought everyone together to celebrate not only a new marriage, but also to celebrate life.

Cheers to 2021 and the new Mr. and Mrs. Pachowitz.

A look back at 2020

I’ll start off by saying that I never could have imagined the obstacles, stressors, and heartache that this year would hold. I’m sure most everyone would agree! What this unpredictable moment in time has taught me is that life does go on, and love, faith, and hope are more powerful than even I once knew. To all of my sweet couples, I know that this was not what your planners had sketched in for you, but I am so amazed at how you all carried yourselves and made the best of it. For some of you, it meant picking a different date in the futur while others held a completely different and last minute ceremony with their closest loved ones, and others stuck it out and went through with the original plan. I got to really witness some of the most candid and deeply moving moments. If there is one thing I am taking from this season, it is that L O V E wins every time! I am forever grateful to each and every one of you for trusting me to stand right next to you and document your stories.

Here is a look back to this unforgettable year of 2020! Cheers to peace and love for this next chapter!

Audra and Luke-The Woman’s Club of Evanston Wedding

When my next couple inquired about photography for their fabulous fall wedding, I knew I was going to love everything they had planned. I first met up with the ladies at Audra’s moms townhome. It was so charming and bright! It was a great way for a photographer to be creative and get all those fun details. We then headed to a public Gazebo in their hometown. I get giddy when we go back to places that has a magical meaning for my couples. After the emotional first look and many pictures taken after, we headed to another park with a breathtaking backdrop. This fall afternoon couldn’t have been more perfect for us!

When we arrived at their venue, I knew I was going to have some fun as my creative juices immediately began flowing. The Woman’s Club of Evanston is the definition of CLASSY! You can just feel all of the history that has taken place there.

The thing that I will remember the most about this couple is the love and respect that they have for one another. They have waited for this moment for years on end and were elated to finally become one.

I really look forward to seeing where life takes these two. Until then, enjoy looking back on all of the joy that unfolded on their big day!

Devon and Steve- The Westin Hotel Wedding, Downtown MKE

Back in June, Devon and Steve booked their engagement session. Their session day came and Mother Nature was not on our side! But, I can’t complain. It was a welcomed opportunity to wait it out and get to know each other in the meantime. We did so at Lake Park Bistro over a cocktail. We connected right off the bat and I knew instantly that I was going to love working with them. Six months later, their big day had arrived. It was a tad chilly but warmed by the love of the friends and family around them. It was a perfect day. Fast forward almost a year…their love will be blossoming this summer as they welcome a Ticcioni bambino!

Congratulations to both of you on an incredible year!

Look Back at 2019

How is it the last day of another decade?! Some days really do seem long, but somehow the years still fly by. Another year has come and gone and I really can’t get over just how special this one was. I married the love of my life and on top of that, so did my little brother. I love that I get to share the same anniversary year with so many of my beautiful couples. I am so grateful to have been a part of so many big moments. My job allows me to be surrounded by love all year round! How lucky am I? I still have to pinch myself most days. Cheers to another year of new beginnings, new love, and new memories!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Charlotte and Jake-Lake Forrest, IL Wedding

After meeting the adorable “Jake & Charlotte” last fall for an engagement session, I knew immediately that their wedding day would be a blast. When their big day arrived, everything was going smoothly, except the weather. Mother nature decided to give us what seemed to be a monsoon! It was a bit challenging but it didn’t stand a chance at ruining this wonderful couple’s big day. Once we got through their heart-warming ceremony, the rain decided to lighten up. The break couldn’t have come at a better time. The lighting, the colors, and my couple were a photographer’s dream. This was my first time at the lovely Knollwood Country Club and I felt like a kid in a candy store. The array of details and class that surrounded this couple were spectacular. Jake and Charlotte had the time of their lives and had the perfect day, thanks to their amazing family and friends.
